Portuguese pianist, composer and music producer, Pedro Janela has built a body of work recognised in national cinema and television.
After a period focused on creating for audiovisual media, "Don't Believe Everything You Think" marks his singular return to live performance — an artistic statement that unites the depth of contemporary music with the richness of the rarest instruments in the history of sound.
W Full career Biography, filmography and discography on Wikipedia →On stage, seemingly distant worlds coexist: keyboards and analogue synthesizers, a modernised Trautonium — a legendary 20th-century instrument, here reinvented —, a Harmonium handcrafted by the artist's grandfather, and a Cristal Baschet, one of the rarest and most fascinating acoustic instruments in the history of music.
To these is added a magnetic tape recorder, from which emerges, on stage, the voice of philosopher Agostinho da Silva — making Portuguese thought an integral part of this journey. The visual component, carefully designed and integrated into this dialogue between eras, envelops the audience in a total and unforgettable way.
